Mauritius has, over the years, meticulously assembled the prerequisites to make itself one of the most business-friendly and safe places in the world. There is no doubt that, besides being a fast emerging economy, Mauritius is by far Africa’s leading economy.
The following accolades show, amongst others, the impressive track record of Mauritius on the international front:
- Mauritius is ranked 27th out of 178 counties and 1st in Africa in World Bank’s Doing Business Report 2008;
- Mauritius is ranked 18th out of 157 countries and 1st in Africa in the Economic Freedom Index 2008 of Heritage Foundation;
- Mauritius is ranked 25th out of 167 countries and 1st in Africa in the Democracy Index 2006 of the Economist Intelligence Unit.;
- Mauritius is ranked 25th out of 169 countries and 1st in Africa in the Press Freedom Index 2007 of Reporters without Borders.
